James is an experienced psychotherapist / counsellor and life coach who also has many years’ experience in business working in a variety of organisations at all levels. He brings this unique combination together with his personal experience of serious illness to his work with clients. He recognises that each client is unique with many facets to their lives. His diverse experience enables him to work with clients across these various facets as required.
James’ approach to therapy is integrative in nature with the Client Centred model at its core. This model values the uniqueness of the client and the importance of their active participation in the counselling process. He also draws on a number of other models of counselling when working with clients including:
Acceptance and Commitment therapy particularly for short term engagements;
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/ MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy);
James recognises that central to successful therapy is a good working relationship between the client and the therapist. This relationship is based on a mutual trust between the client and therapist and a thorough understanding the needs of the client. This is paramount if change and healing is to take place. Consequently, James tailors his approach (and the techniques he uses) to the needs of the client at any stage of the relationship.
