Traineeships and Internships
The Connolly Counselling Centre is not only committed to helping people cope with life and manage their mental health; we also believe in supporting future generations of counsellors and psychologists. To this end, we offer traineeships to those newly qualified and internships to students studying counselling, psychology, psychotherapy, etc. at third level institutions.
Our internships are arranged through the institutions and typically take place from February to May each year. Students engage in research and/or clinical practice.

In 2021 we supported Cormac Monaghan in an internship where he completed several pieces of research for us between February and May. You can find details of Cormac and his work below.
Cormac Monaghan is a current BSc Psychology student at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, with the intent in graduating in 2022. During the third year of his degree he completed a three month internship with the Connolly Counselling Centre where he worked on several research assignments under the supervision of Dr. Susan Byrne. He is now entering the final year of his degree where he hopes to examine the factors that influence academic procrastination in university students as part of his final year project.
