Dr. Zahra Farahani
Zahra is currently completing a master’s degree in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy in IICP College and is working towards completing her clinical hours. Zahra holds a MSc in clinical psychology from her home country, Iran and a PhD in psychology from UCD.
Zahra has a strong interest in mental health and wellbeing of ethnic minority population and has been conducting research on inclusion, wellbeing, and mental health of migrants and ethnic minoritised people over the last 10 years.
Before moving to Ireland, as part of her clinical psychology course, Zahra was trained in assessment of and evidence-based interventions for a range of mental health presenting problems. She is trained in CBT, Schema Therapy, and Reality Therapy. However, her approach is integrative, person- centred, and collaborative; meaning that she would respond to the needs and preferences of clients and work with them towards a tailored intervention plan.
Zahra works with adult clients who experience anxiety, depression, phobia, anger, stress, or grief and those who are interested in personal development and improving their self-esteem and confidence. Zahra is particularly interested in working with clients from ethnic minority and migrant background and would be happy to work in English or Farsi.
