Dr. Teyhou Smyth is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counsellor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who uses Emotion Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy as well as working from an attachment based perspective.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Teyhou earned her B.A in Psychology from the University of Southern California and completed an M.A. in Sociology at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She went on to complete a second Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at the California School of Professional Psychology and holds a doctorate degree in Pedagogical Sciences.
Teyhou has had experience working with a variety of issues including self confidence, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD as well as specialising in LGBTQ issues.
Teyhou’s focus is to help individuals find mental wellness through empathetic, therapeutic encounters. Her top priority is ensuring an unconditional, positive regard for the client experience while processing issues of self confidence and acceptance. Teyhou works from an emotion-focused model and provides support through challenging transitions from a relational and attachment perspective.
Teyhou’s multicultural identity and international background has given her exposure to many people from different backgrounds and cultures which helps her understand issues from a unique perspective, thus she wants to be an important catalyst towards transforming lives.
Teyhou believes that everyone is able to access their full potential so that they may become the best version of themselves.
