She also works with the carers of family members with cancer, particularly young people who struggle to cope.
Other client concerns addressed in therapy are self-esteem issues, feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope with life events, such as, loss and bereavement, relationship difficulties, work issues, collage stresses and adapting to life events.
Roseleen works with each client in a way that is best suited to their individual needs. This may consist of short term therapy to address a specific problem or longer term therapy for those wishing to deepen their understanding of themselves and their relationship with others. She draws on a diverse range of skills from Mindfulness Based Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Solution Focussed Therapy. She believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship to create a non-judgmental, listening with empathic reflection as the bedrock of therapy. Many Clients who come to counselling are often stuck and blocked by overwhelming fear, doubt and resignation. Drawing from Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) these feelings can be transformed and the old ways of being can be changed allowing life to be more fulfilled, joyful and meaningful. Therapy can enhance the clients sense of well-being, vitality and quality of life in the face of distress.
Roseleen’s professional foundation is Cancer Specialist Nurse helping patients and families cope with the psychological impact of a cancer diagnosis. She is a member of the Irish Cancer Society remote counselling service.
