Niamh Orbinski
Niamh Orbinski (BSc, PgCert, HDip) is a Nutritionist and Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor. She received her undergraduate degree in Nutritional Science (BSc) from University College Cork. She then went on to complete a higher diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (HDip) at Dublin Business School and is currently completing her Masters in Psychotherapy (MA). She specialises in intuitive eating, disordered eating and body image and helps her clients ditch dieting and rebuild a healthier relationship with food, body and self. As a nutrition counsellor, she likes to get to the root of food issues and habits through what is best described as food and body image therapy. Nutrition counselling is a specialist area within nutrition and dietetic practice that combines evidence-based nutrition practice with counselling skills.
She is also the author of ‘No Apologies: Ditch Diet Culture and Rebuild Your Relationship with Food’, which was published by Harper Collins in 2023 and is the host of the Food, Body and Beyond podcast. She is a regular contributor to online, radio and print publications and has been featured in The Irish Independent, The Business Post, RTE, BBC Radio and many others.
Niamh specialises in supporting those struggling with:
- Weight fluctuations
- Binge eating or overeating
- Emotional eating
- Disordered eating/unhealthy relationship with food
- Food preoccupation
- Chronic dieting
- Poor body image
Niamh is highly experienced in working with these issues and believes in the value of creating a shame-free and judgment-free space for her clients. She understands that it can be nerve-racking to visit a healthcare professional and therefore seeks to compassionately understand her clients and the issues they are facing around health and nutrition. She is passionate about helping people to liberate themselves from the constraints of diet culture, so they are free to live a healthy, happy, and unapologetic life. Niamh believes in helping people reach their health-related goals from a weight-inclusive, HAES-aligned perspective. This means that she encourages health-promoting behaviours, regardless of their outcome on weight. Weight inclusivity is an approach that prioritizes health and well-being without emphasizing weight to help improve diet and exercise-related health behaviours.
Whether you are struggling with an unhealthy relationship with food or your body, you’d like to receive some practical advice on managing a nutrition and lifestyle-related condition, or you simply want to receive some support in becoming the healthiest version of yourself, Niamh can help.
