Dr Deirdre Walsh
Dr Deirdre Walsh (D.Couns.Psych) is a Counselling Psychologist and a graduate member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology (B.A. Hons) from University College Dublin. Following this she went on to complete her Masters degree (MSc.) in Clinical Child Psychology in the UK.
Deirdre completed her professional training with a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from Trinity College Dublin, which entailed training in a variety of mental health settings and working with clients from all ages of the lifespan. She now works in private practice at the Connolly Counselling Centre providing therapy to adult clients, teenagers and children.
Deirdre is an empathic psychological therapist who values creating a space for her clients to feel comfortable and respected. She works from a humanistic and integrative perspective and believes that the therapeutic relationship is central to her work with clients. She enjoys working collaboratively with clients, offering a warm, trusting, non-judgemental and accepting stance. A shared approach is taken, working towards goals with the ultimate aim of providing meaningful change for clients. Deirdre believes that everybody has the capacity to grow, evolve and change if they are committed to the process.
Deirdre has experience of a range of psychological approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. Aside from this, she is a trained yoga and meditation teacher and is passionate about a holistic approach to health and wellness.
