Pauline McCloskey

Pauline is fully accredited member of Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). As an integrative psychotherapist, she takes a collaborative approach to meet the needs of her clients, weaving different therapies to best address presenting issues. She is trained in Humanistic, CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and body work.

As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, Pauline uses an integrative/body and person-centred approach to issues of bereavement, loss and grief. One of specialist areas includes pregnancy loss through miscarriage and abortion. She ran a port-abortion support group for a number of years and delivered workshops for women impacting by abortion (including historic abortion).

Pauline is also skilled in crisis intervention and suicide prevention.

Pauline works with each client in a way that is best suited to their individual needs. For some that will be short term counselling to address a specific issue; for others it may be that you require longer term therapy to deepen your understanding of yourself your relationships with others.

Clients who come to counselling are often stuck and blocked by overwhelming fear, doubt and resignation. Creating a non-judgmental space is the foundation of therapy and necessary to build the therapeutic relationship.

Pauline adheres at all times the IACP Code of Ethics. Pauline is passionate and committed to continuous professional development, engages regularly in supervision and self-care to ensure best practice for her clients.

Pauline is available for Individual Counselling Sessions from the Connolly Counselling Centre. She is also available for Remote Counselling Sessions via Zoom.

In terms of relationship issues she is experienced in relationship breakdown, divorce, separation, coercive control, narcissistic abuse, physical and emotional abuse, addiction/co-dependency, work related challenges and/or disputes.

Qualifications:

BA (1st class hons) in Integrative Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Diploma in Counselling Skills (including CBT).
QQI Level 5 in Addiction Studies (1st class hons)
Certificate in Facilitating Domestic Violence Intervention Programmes
