Tara Thompson
Tara Thompson is an IACP accredited Psychotherapist and ACI accredited Addiction Counsellor. She holds a BA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from IICP and Diplomas in Integrative Clinical Supervision (IICP), Addiction Studies (Trinity College), Therapeutic Groupwork (ATI), Line Management & Supervision (NCI) and Social Studies (IFAE).
Tara works with adults in private practice, offering a client centred, integrative, trauma-informed care approach to counselling and psychotherapy, incorporating: Psychodynamic, Humanistic, CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and Choice Theory approaches, as appropriate.
Tara works with adults presenting with a wide range of issues and also has a specific interest in working therapeutically with clients in recovery, be it substance and/or process addictions, to address their underpinning issues, such as: trauma, unresolved grief, self-worth/esteem and attachment issues.
Tara is an experienced Group Therapist and has worked in the field of addiction and counselling, both in community and residential rehabilitation settings, for over 20 years. She is co-founder and co-facilitator of Oak Recovery, an abstinence based programme, providing a holistic approach to recovery, incorporating nature based therapy, group therapy and psychoeducation, horticulture and mindfulness.
