Dr Tara Logan Buckley
Dr Tara Logan Buckley is a Chartered Senior Clinical Psychologist working in private practice at the Connolly Counselling Centre. She received her undergraduate (B.A.Hons), Higher Diploma (H.Dip.Psych) and Masters degree (M.A. Applied Psych) from University College Cork. She went on to complete her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Trinity College Dublin, which entailed rotational training in various mental health settings across the lifespan, including intellectual disability where she offered psychological assessment and intervention. Her specialist residency was in an Irish specialised Weight Management Service which is a key area of interest for Tara.
To date, Tara has worked extensively in private and public mental health and within Forensic settings where she has provided a psychological service to a broad range of clients presenting with a range of severe and complex psychological, behavioural and emotional difficulties along with enduring mental health difficulties. These difficulties include depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and personality disorder.
Tara has experience in mental health assessment, formulation, treatment and behaviour change with children/adolescents, adults and those living with a disability. Tara works with the Veterans Evaluation Service providing assessment and diagnosis for USA Military Veterans in Europe. She has created webinars and workshops for various global corporate clients regarding mental health for employees and management, as well as content on Psychological First aid. Tara has been a guest speaker on various podcasts, radio shows and conferences and she has presented her research on bariatric surgery and obesity both at a national and international level. Tara is a member of The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and its clinical division.
Tara is extremely passionate about positive mental health, well-being and helping people live a fuller, more rewarding life. She approaches her work in a calm, non-judgmental manner and believes that no one approach to treatment and/or therapy fits all. Therefore, she uses an integrated approach with the client being centred. This enables the treatment to be tailored to the client’s needs by combining elements from various styles of intervention. Tara endeavours to offer a supportive space for each of her clients where she displays compassion and understanding, which will enable the person seeking help to feel accepted, appreciated and supported through their journey.
