Avril Burgess

Avril has 20 years’ experience as a psychologist and educational psychologist. She is a Charted Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland, a member of the British Psychological Society and a student member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Therapy.

She has worked as a vocational guidance & educational consultant in Ireland, the EU and Russia, managed training centres and developed accredited psychology and other programmes. Previously, Avril worked with the Algerian Ministry of Education, and Dublin City VEC (now City of Dublin ETB.), as a secondary school teacher.

Avril understands that many people are burdened by difficult challenges. She supports clients in developing strategies to face life more confidently, based on their individual needs. Avril integrates multiple therapeutic techniques to empower adults and young people to understand themselves better, develop coping skills and foster personal growth. She encourages people to have belief in themselves and hope for the future.

Her therapeutic range covers stress management, anxiety, depression, conflict, loneliness and general withdrawal from life. She participates in ongoing CPD and clinical supervision in counselling and psychology, is covered by professional indemnity insurance, and complies with GDPR regulations and professional ethical standards of confidentiality.

Avril believes that the reflection that comes from counselling, from social interaction, nature, animal companionship and wellness activities can help people feel better in themselves. Despite their current difficulties, everyone can grow to enjoy more happiness, contentment and fun from life.
