Steve Burke

Steve is currently completing an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy with Turning Point Institute/UCC and is undertaking his clinical placement at the Connolly Counselling Centre.

His approach is primarily person-centred and integrative, with a particular interest in attachment and psychodynamic perspectives. Steve believes that the relationship between therapist and client is central to the therapeutic process and aims to offer a warm, genuine and non-judgemental space where clients can speak openly and explore their experiences at their own pace.

Alongside his psychotherapy training, Steve has a professional background in business and leadership, which has given him experience of the pressures, relationships and transitions that can form part of adult life. He also undertakes voluntary recovery work within an addiction treatment setting, which has contributed to a particular interest in addiction, recovery and the wider impact of addiction on people and their relationships.

Steve works collaboratively with clients, recognising that different people need different things from therapy. His therapeutic interests include anxiety, stress, low mood, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, addiction and recovery, life transitions and personal development. His aim is to help clients better understand themselves, their relationships and the patterns that may be influencing how they experience their lives.
