Sandra Blackmore Holistic massage

To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.

Sandra began her interest and love of massage when she was training to be a fitness instructor back in the early nineties. She completed a National Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy and began working in a Holistic Centre.

Over the past few years her training, to date, has included ITEC Diploma Holistic Massage, Obus Practitioners Diploma in Aromatherapy, ITEC Diploma in Reflexology, Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy Level 4 and Orthopaedic Massage and various other workshops and short courses encompassing Lastone Therapy and Onsite Seated Massage, to name but a few.

In 2014 she completed her second Advanced Orthopaedic Massage Training with James Waslaski and finds his multidisciplinary, pain free approach to deep tissue, bodywork and injuries simply amazing and this is what she strives to bring to her treatments with her clients.

Sandra is married and mother of two boys and also works from home. She has just completed her Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy Level 5 and includes the concepts, special tests and techniques used in Myoskeletal Alignment Technique (MAT) and Orthopaedic Massage.

Sandra offers the following treatments to clients. Each and every massage is tailored to suit the individual, using various techniques such as deep sports massage to the more gentle holistic massage. Essential oils and carriers are blended on the day especially for each client.

Holistic Massage

Holistic Massage is a treatment designed to bring about a deep state of relaxation and reduce muscle tension and stress. It benefits the client on many levels – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. In a relaxed state, the body’s natural energy is restored and the natural repair system of the body is improved. Benefits of Holistic Massage:

  • Reduce overall stress and anxiety.
  • Increase energy levels.
  • Alleviate muscular tension & stiffness.
  • Increase mobility & flexibility.
  • Encourage better circulation.
  • Improve skin elasticity.
  • Boost the immune system.
  • Promote general relaxation.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is used to help athletes of all levels to perform at their peak it is not used solely for the athletic population. It may also be used in the general population where the stresses and strains of life and work can leave our bodies in a sub-optimal condition. While at work, either being stuck behind the desk, in a car or standing behind the checkout for several hours, our muscles are being placed under constant static load. These muscle imbalances lead to a build-up of the pain provoking adhesions mentioned above. This may be the cause of your neck pain when spending too much time at the computer, low back pain when spending too long driving or knee pain when standing for too long etc. Sports massage can be a useful tool to alleviate these symptoms by ensuring that the tightness in these muscles is reduced and they are returned to a more flexible state.

“Healing begins with an aromatic bath and daily massage.” Hippocrates

Aromatherapy is the controlled and informed use of essential oil to maintain and/or improve the health of the mind, body and spirit. The main concern of an aromatherapist is to treat the person, not the problem. The words controlled and informed mean just this. The amount of essential oil used and the different types chosen are specific for a particular individual at a particular time. In this way the aromatherapist provides a holistic treatment.

Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that encourages the body to balance and heal itself. It involves applying finger or thumb pressure to specific points on the feet. These points are called ‘reflexes’ and they reflect, or mirror, the organs and structures of the body as well as a persons emotional health. In this way, the feet are ‘mini maps’ or ‘microcosms’ of the body that can be used to encourage holistic healing.

“If you’re feeling out of kilter, don’t know why or what about, let your feet reveal the answer, find the sore spot, work it out.” Eunice Ingham, Mother of Reflexology

Aromatic Reflexology

“Scents for the Sole” Aromatic Reflexology is a reflexology treatment with a blend of essential oils to suit each client individually.
