Kevin Gallagher has worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist for 16 years, since graduating in 2002 with an Honours BA in Counselling & Psychotherapy. He has worked in private practice and as an employed counsellor, helping people with a wide range of issues in a caring, empathic and effective manner. During this time, he taught psychology for six years to Social Studies students in TCD as an External Lecturer.
In 2011-2012, Kevin completed training in couple counselling, with Relationships Ireland and has worked with couples since then. He has had further training with The Couples Institute in California.
Kevin has an interest in studying the area beyond the normal day to day personal aspects of the human mind and wellbeing, looking at values, purpose in life, developing intuition and inner wisdom. To that end, he completed a Master of Science Degree in Consciousness and Transpersonal Psychology with Liverpool John Moores University in 2010, exploring the transformative effect of the Near Death Experience in an Irish context.
Kevin has considerable experience delivering Employee Assistance Programmes as a counsellor and case manager. He has had training and experience in facilitating Critical Incident Stress Management at companies, for groups and individuals.
An enthusiast of Brief Solution Focussed Therapy, Kevin believes in working as effectively as possible with clients, in order for clients to get the greatest benefit in the least time.
Kevin has been fully accredited with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy since 2004 and served on the accreditation committee for six years from 2007.
